Privacy Policy
Last updated: August 10, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how Ethan Jeffery, doing business as Glugg ("Glugg", "we", "us", or "our") collects, uses, discloses, and protects information when you use the Glugg mobile application or glugg.app (together, the "Service").
1. Information we collect
Account and profile information
- Account information: email address, authentication information, display name, and account identifiers. Anonymous guests receive a temporary account identifier.
- Age and preferences: date of birth or age-verification status, country or region, weekly targets, notification preferences, and onboarding choices.
- Tracker profile: information you choose to provide for estimates, such as weight, height, biological sex, body-type selection, and food state.
Content and activity
- Drink information: scans, extracted or manually entered product details, prices, quantities, grades, comparisons, favourites, saved drinks, and cocktail activity.
- Tracker information: session times, logged drinks, estimated standard drinks, spending, calories, and estimated blood-alcohol content (BAC).
- Groups and games: memberships, messages, shared drinks, invitations, game participation, and other content you choose to share.
- Purchases: subscription product, entitlement, trial, renewal, and transaction-status information supplied by the app store and RevenueCat. We do not receive your full payment-card number.
- Website communications: your email address and message if you contact us.
Camera and scan images
Glugg accesses the camera only when you use a camera feature. A drink photo is transmitted through our Supabase function to OpenAI for analysis, with Google Gemini used as a fallback. We do not save the original scan photo in your Glugg account. Extracted product and price details may be saved when you complete or save a scan. Those providers may process the image under their applicable service and retention terms.
Optional location
If you opt in, precise device location may be used temporarily to suggest nearby stores or venues through Google Places and geocoding services. We save the place you select—such as its name, city, region, type, and Google place identifier—with the scan. You can enter or remove a place manually, and location is not required to scan a drink.
Device and usage information
We may collect device and operating-system information, push-notification tokens, app events, feature usage, and basic diagnostics. Glugg sends selected product events to PostHog. Session replay, screen recording, and automatic view-hierarchy capture are disabled.
The website may record a store-button click together with the selected store, button placement, and page path so we can understand which download links are useful. This lightweight measurement does not include session replay or the contents of your screen. If enabled, the analytics provider will be identified in this Policy.
2. How we use information
- Operate, secure, and personalize the Service.
- Analyze scans and calculate prices, grades, tracker estimates, and statistics.
- Provide groups, games, sharing, notifications, and customer support.
- Process purchases, restore entitlements, and prevent fraud or misuse.
- Understand feature performance and improve the Service.
- Comply with law and enforce our Terms of Service.
3. Service providers and disclosure
We disclose information only as needed to operate the Service, including to:
- Supabase: authentication, database, storage, and server functions.
- OpenAI and Google Gemini: drink-image analysis.
- Google Places and geocoding: optional location suggestions and place details.
- RevenueCat: subscription entitlement and purchase management.
- Apple App Store and Google Play: app distribution, payments, subscriptions, and refunds.
- PostHog: selected product-analytics events.
- Firebase Cloud Messaging: push-notification delivery.
We may also disclose information when required by law, to protect users or the Service, or as part of a business transfer. We do not sell personal information and do not use it for cross-app behavioural advertising.
4. Sharing within Glugg
Information you post to a group—such as messages, display information, shared drinks, and game activity—is visible to that group's members. Avoid sharing information you do not want other members to see.
5. Retention
Account content is generally retained while your account is active. We may keep limited information longer when required for security, dispute resolution, tax, accounting, app-store transactions, or other legal obligations. Service providers may retain information according to their own legal obligations and processing terms.
6. Account deletion and your choices
Registered users can permanently delete their account in Glugg under Settings → Delete account. Anonymous guests can delete their temporary account from the guest play flow. Deletion removes the Glugg account and associated user-owned data, subject to the limited retention described above. Shared groups transfer to another existing member where possible. Deleting your account does not cancel an App Store or Google Play subscription; subscriptions must be cancelled in the relevant store account.
Depending on where you live, you may also have rights to access, correct, export, delete, object to, or restrict processing of personal information. Contact hello@glugg.app to make a request. We may need to verify your identity.
7. Security
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards. No internet transmission or storage system is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
8. Legal drinking age
Glugg is intended only for people who are of legal drinking age in their jurisdiction. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone who is not eligible to use the Service.
9. International processing
We and our providers may process information outside your province, state, or country, including in the United States and Canada, where privacy laws may differ from those where you live.
10. Changes
We may update this Policy as the Service changes. We will post the revised version here and change the “Last updated” date. Material changes may also be communicated in the app or by another appropriate method.
11. Contact
Questions or privacy requests may be sent to Ethan Jeffery at hello@glugg.app.
